NJ gas prices will drop Friday at these gas stations

Gasoline prices keep rising, but many gas stations across the Garden State will be offering motorists big discounts at the pumps on Friday.

As part of an effort to change state law and allow self-serve gasoline, Sal Risalvato, executive director of New Jersey Gasoline, C-Store and Automotive Association, said a total of 78 gas stations would reduce the price of gasoline “by the amount they would reduce on gasoline if they were in fact allowed to offer self-serve gasoline.

How much will the prices go down?

He said self-serve Awareness Day discounts will be offered all day Friday. Savings should be 7 to 23 cents per gallon.

He said surveys of gas station owners indicate the labor cost to pump a gallon of gas is between 7 and 23 cents.

How can they do that?

Risalvato said participating gas stations won’t make a profit on Friday, and some may lose money, but it’s worth making the point that a self-serve option in New Jersey is important.

He said such a system would allow gas stations to operate with fewer employees, which is important as many stations are struggling to find workers due to the ongoing labor shortage.

It would also save motorists money at a time when gasoline prices continue to climb to new highs.

He said when motorists enter any of the 78 stations offering discount gas on Friday, they will be asked to contact their legislators “to let them know that they support the idea of having a choice, the option at the pump, to pump it themselves.”

The following stations will be offering gas discounts on Friday.
