NJ drug dealer pleads guilty to causing Toms River overdose

The man responsible for trafficking a lethal concoction of drugs that killed a man in Toms River has now pleaded guilty and faces several years in prison.

The guilty plea was entered on Tuesday by the Ocean County District Attorney’s Office.

An investigation began Dec. 5, 2019, when Toms River police officers responded to a home in the township after receiving a call about an unresponsive 24-year-old man in the residence.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered he had already died of an apparent drug overdose.

Toms River Police continued the investigation alongside the Ocean County District Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Ocean County District Attorney’s Office. undisclosed amount of heroin and fentanyl the day before he died.

According to prosecutor Bradley Billhimer, confirmation of these specific drugs in the deceased’s system was obtained through further investigation and laboratory analysis.

Jackson was arrested at his home in Galloway on January 23, 2020 by township police and the Atlantic County District Attorney’s Office, taken to the Ocean County Jail, but later released due to law enforcement guidelines. New Jersey Bail Reform.

This week, he pleaded guilty to strict liability drug-induced death, and prosecutor Billhimer said that at the time of his October 14 sentencing, “The State will recommend a seven-year prison sentence in the State of New Jersey – subject to the terms of the No Early Release Act.”

District Attorney Billhimer also said Ocean County Supervisory Assistant District Attorney Kristin Pressman handled the case on behalf of the state.
