New Jersey’s Most Wanted Smoker

We all know that smoking is bad for you. Unless of course the smoker is used to make the best BarBQ. You don’t let it know but Newark has some of the best BarBQs in the country. Among New Jersey’s best is Fat Jacks on the South Black Horse Pike in Williamstown. Unfortunately, he had his smoker stolen.

We’re talking $ 30,000 worth of smoker, making it one of the best ribs, belly and pulled pork in the world. I know, I tried. Glen Gross, the owner, called me in New Jersey 101.5 to talk about the loss, his insurance and his friends in the business helping him. In times of unrest, the barbecue community comes together.

“We got a quote for a new one for 42k. The insurance company already wants to settle in” In the meantime, Fat Jack’s is counting on a little help from their friends

“Lumpy’s BBQ in Blackwood is my old business partner. He lets me smoke our food in HIS smokehouse and Sweet Lucy’s in Philadelphia has an extra smokehouse that we can use for a while.”

Meanwhile, the search is underway for the missing smoker who has been robbed for the second time in the past 5 years.

“Someone spotted the smoker on a tray in Pennsauken near the pub,” Gross says. “People can watch for anything strange or suspicious … it’s not an easy thing to hide … lol”

And if they spot something, even if they THINK it’s something, “said Gross” say something !! Call Monroe Twp Police.
