Men’s basketball returns to TCNJ summit; Wilson peaks in game and career with 18 points

EWING, New Jersey – The University of New Jersey City men’s basketball team defeated the College of New Jersey at Lions Field in Ewing, NJ on Saturday afternoon, December 11. NJAC) play in the standings, while TCNJ fell under that brand.

Second year Hakeem Wilson (Newark, NJ / North Star Academy) scored 18 points, a game and career high, followed closely by the senior captain Denzel Banks (Newark, NJ / Campus East Orange) who scored 17 – Banks has just 16 points less than 1,000 for his career. Senior Kayton Darley (North Bergen, NJ / North Bergen) and second Ryan Savoy (Lakewood, NJ / Lakewood) finished the game with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Jersey City, as a team, scored 29 points on TCNJ’s turnovers.

Banks took the lead with the team’s top nine rebounds, followed by Savoy with seven, Darley with five and Wilson with four. Senior captain Jason Battle (Jersey City, NJ / Roselle Catholic), Wilson and Darley all had two interceptions in tonight’s game – Savoy held the record three-block total.
