How to avoid mosquitoes this summer

Mosquitoes are so annoying and when you have those itchy bug bites you just want to rip your skin off. It just feels like nothing gets rid of the itch. It’s finally summer and you just want to avoid insect bites as much as possible.

According to NJ.com, the amount of rain we get this summer is most likely going to dictate how many mosquitoes the state of New Jersey gets. New Jersey has very unpredictable weather so in reality we’ll have to wait and see if there will be a lot of rain.

One thing that NJ.com has shared that might be helpful for not having so many mosquitoes is to make sure you don’t have puddles in your yard. Mosquitoes are drawn to water, and we’ve learned that mosquitoes can actually lay eggs in half an inch of water.

Also, if you don’t clean the leaves in your garden, you may end up with a lot more mosquitoes, as they are known to hide under leaves and in bushes.

The owner of a pest control company told NJ.com, “So every week empty or turn over the items that will hold water.”

One thing that was advertised on NJ.com was that mosquitoes can bite and annoy you, but mosquitoes “don’t carry diseases that affect people.”

Finally, make sure your gutters are cleaned, as this can also affect the number of mosquitoes you will have in your garden this summer.
